Nouns
A noun is the name of a person, place, animal, feeling, thing, idea and quality. Nouns can be singular (one) or plural (more than one). Nouns are further subdivided into common nouns, proper nouns, collective nouns and abstract nouns.

Common nouns
Common nouns are the names we give to everyday things e.g. girl, rabbit, attic, month. Common nouns do not need capital letters unless they are at the beginning of a sentence.

Proper nouns
Proper nouns name specific people, places or things, including days and months (but not seasons). Proper nouns always start with a capital letter.
